Stratford and the 2012 Olympics
London will be hosting the Olympic Games in 2010, and the Stratford area will play a key role in the games. Stratford International, providing domestic services on the High Speed 1 lines to UK stations, will be a key access point to the London Olympic Park and Westfield Stratford City, attracting thousands of Olympic spectators from international stations St Pancras, Ebbsfleet and Ashford.The regeneration includes the new "Stratford City" development scheme, 13.5 million square feet of mixed-use site that is intended to become one of London's metropolitan hubs and will allow for an estimated 5,000 new homes and create 30,000 jobs.
